About the Artist
Barb Land is a New Castle, Delaware, metalsmith who creates one-of-a -kind wearable art pieces intended to connect to one’s spirit. A session at the Sundance Art Studio in Utah sparked a passion which has been honed over the past ten years primarily at the Delaware Art Museum. Her pieces are predominantly silver and natural stone with copper and gold embellishments. Barb begins each piece with silver sheet and/or wire and allows each stone to guide her work. With the use of saws, hammers, torches and various bench tools each piece comes to life. Barb’s pieces are not only unique, but also made to last for generations. In most cases, the ideas of the front side are continued onto the reverse to complete the story and provide an added surprise for the wearer. Barb now works out of her home studio, but continues to enjoy sessions at the Delaware Art Museum as well as opportunities to learn from artists throughout the region to further enhance her craft. “My experiences in nature, mountains, and beach with family and friends are a big influence on my work. My hope is that the wearer of my jewelry will bond with it and carry shared memories with them always. This journey is truly a dream come true,”
